I love to share entertaining inspiration on TS, and I will always enjoy the tradition of a fully set table with flowers and candles and the whole shebang, but today I’m sharing a different kind of entertaining inspiration… This easy sushi dinner party is a more spontaneous, spur of the moment kind of entertaining, inspired by Hive, that I think can create the best memories with family and friends. While the phrase ‘dinner party’ is often associated with a lot of planning and a bit of anxiety, sometimes all you need are people and food (and some stylish dinnerware never hurts). This take-out dinner party is all about making the food and table no-brainers and letting the spontaneity of the event spur some magical memories with loved ones.

I set the food out on our living room coffee table, with big throw pillows as seats on the floor. A fun black, white, and silver palette set the scene with slim charcoal flatware and a mix of patterned napkins (very Marimekko!). The plates might be my favorite, with a slim silver edge that gives them the perfect metallic detail.
Being able to entertain is one of the greatest joys of a home because sharing it with others is what gives you the best memories of all.
