I’m delighted to share my mood board for my friend Olivia’s dorm room! Dorm room decor is a special kind of a challenge. The layout is limited, the space is petite, and everything has to be exactly how it was when the inhabitant moves in—so it’s hard to change much with my favorite tools like paint or furniture choices.

This room is going to be pulled together by the shade of blush that’s the perfect match for Olivia’s personality and style. On-trend (some might call it “millennial pink”), warm, and elegant, the sense of femininity it brings ties right into the playful prints on the throw pillows and the light and delicate artwork I’ve picked out for the walls. I’m partnering with The Mine for all of the decor – and there’s definitely lots to be found in their huge selection (see all of their curated dorm room decor here). Lots of soft textures and mirrored surfaces will help keep the room cozy but bright. I chose solid pale colors to keep the room from being dark and to help the space seem as large as possible. The area rug from Mohawk Home and cozy blanket fulfill some of my dorm room must-haves too. Click through to enjoy the full mood board and don’t forget to let me know what you think!

The new Mohawk Home rug will be a huge game-changer in the space since it will provide a light, neutral ground for the room. I usually shy away from white rugs but Mohawk’s Smartstrand material which is durable, stain-resistant, and super soft lets me get away with the light color! I’m also excited to include a serene photograph by Jennifer Squires Ross, framed by Framebridge in their gold bamboo frame.
