Sakura Spring

I always imagine the transition to Spring as being a smooth canoe ride into warmer weather, but these past few weeks have been fraught with tempting tastes of spring, only to be followed with freezing temperatures. Despite the tumultuous transition, the new shoots and buds have persevered and besides some temperatures in the 30s this week at night, the road ahead looks warm and sunny!

One of my favorite harbingers of spring would be the cherry blossom. It’s especially fantastic when it creates a snow-like cascade of petals when the wind blows… Ornamental cherries are beautiful all year, but in the spring they are filled with cotton candy bursts of delicate pink. I scavenged the neighborhood for some reachable branches, and Grace and I had a little photo shoot with these blooms.
