It’s been interesting to watch the smart home trend take off over the past couple of years, with technology slowly making its way into our homes and even our decor. My take on interior design is that it’s all about our control of our immediate environment, and any of these smart home devices are making it easier and easier to take control of our surroundings to create a home that fits us perfectly. I recently got to try out two of TP-Link’s new devices, their Smart Plug and Smart Light Bulb. I quickly set-up both in my bedroom, with the light bulb beside my bed and the sconces above my desk controlled by the Smart Plug. Both are such helpful products, but I did love all of the fun settings with the light bulb, like changing the color, brightness, and light schedule for the bulb with the Kasa app on my phone. Another great feature of these devices is the fact that they save electricity by both tracking use, allowing you to control them remotely, and the light bulb uses LED lighting which only takes a fraction of the power for an incandescent bulb. The easy slider and color selector in the Kasa app on my phone controls the light bulb instantly. It also has a feature to set up a schedules and ‘scenarios’ to quickly apply a series of settings to your bulb, like a ‘movie’ setting which makes the light a warm yellow and brings brightness down to 5%.
