A few weeks ago, I flew out to Fort Worth to help get my little sister Grace get settled into her first apartment. As a rising Junior, it’s her first year living off-campus, so I wanted to make sure she had a stylish and comfortable place to come home to after her long days as a dance major! I started out with a very blank slate and gave her college bedroom a completely new look while keeping it light, fresh, and relaxing. I found fabulous removable chinoiserie wallpaper from Tempaper that was perfect for a subtle accent wall, and the coziest bath and bedding essentials from The Company Store to complete the look. I chose an ivory tonal rug for the room, which lightens the space and is super soft underfoot! I love how simple it is while having just enough texture to keep it from being impractical.
I upgraded these simple nightstands by adding gold hardware, which coordinates with the pretty blue ceramic lamps on either side of the bed. I love symmetry in smaller rooms – the sense of balance goes a long way.
I added bath and bedding from The Company Store, which is my go-to for high-quality essentials. These Turkish cotton towels and robe make the perfect starter set, and the sage green blanket makes a soft addition for cozy nights in.
On the bed, I used the striped sateen shams and down coverlet, which offers a nice middle ground between a duvet and blanket (and easy to throw in the wash when needed). I love the subtle striping and the fluffy layer the comforter adds.
The game-changer in this basic white room is the chinoiserie wallpaper accent wall behind the bed. I chose this fabulous peel and stick wallpaper in a grey tone-on-tone colorway that is so soothing in here! Tempaper confirmed the dimensions of the wall with me so the design would be scaled to the space, and it was fast and easy to install.
